Is there any particular place on trainboard.com to discuss freight car history and spotting characteristics in general, not necessarily tied to any specific railroad, or any model?

I am interested in modeling Santa Fe's GA-111 and GA-117 class ACF covered hoppers of 1950s in N scale, and have found no photos. Photos of these, or similar ACF 3-bay LOs on other railroads would be helpful. See continuing thread on Fallen Flags/ATSF.

I wonder how I make a link to connect direct to that thread?
And, is this a good place for freightcarologists to post?

Hi Kenneth and welcome to Trainboard!

I can't help you with your search for information about specific freight cars .. but, I suppose this is as good a thread to ask as any other.

To answer your question about establishing a link .. simply highlight and copy the url shown in the address line at the top of your screen, then paste it in the body of your message. [IMG]

Hope you find what you are seeking. Most of the time Lady Sunshine has a knack for finding websites for information. [IMG]

There is an ATSF Historical Society website. I expect there is an ATSF Yahoo Groups. I know there is a Yahoo Groups that discusses freight cars in detail ad nauseum (to me). I mean I have never seen such detail. But those people are very knowledgable and helpful. You will have to join the group.

Also, the Rennsallier (sp) model rr group has extensive freight car info, but you have to subscribe.
