Some larger, clearer shots would be good. But photo 3 looks like a BB16500, photo 5 the same, alongside a TGV-A, photo 6 looks like one of the BB67000 family. Photo 1 could be a BB17000.

Any chance of seeing the full pictures?

Here is a link to my entire "Railroading - Paris" album:
    http://albums.photopoint.com/j/AlbumIndex?u=76905&a=9895099

The composite picture was made from some of these. If you see any of my captions that can be improved, I am open to suggestions.

Your assistance is much appreciated. Thanks.

    Happy Holidays.

The first photo in the album looks like a BB67000, or one of the rebuilds. Built 1963-68, about 2,000 hp.

Photo 2 is a BB17000 25Kv AC electric, built 1965-68. Approx. 3,950 hp. Used on suburban sevices from Paris Nord and St. Lazare, also freight trains on the Paris-Le Havre route.

Photo 3 is a mystery, it has the styling of the BB9200 family, these have several different configurations, either DC or AC (or both). But the although the number is not quite clear enough to read on my screen, it does not seem to match any of the number series. Is the number clear on the original?

On the collage photo, picture 5 is a BB9200. These were built 1957-64, and runs on catenary energised at 1500V DC. Maximum speed 160kph, hp about 5,000.

    Hope the above helps.

Pierce, I noticed that all the TGV's in your photographs are in the new blue and grey colours. Here is a picture i took in February 1995. It has one in the original TGV Paris Sud-Est orange and white, alongside a new TGV Atlantique. Note the different foof line above the cabs.

    And another in original colours.

Both photographs at Paris Gare de Lyon.

The best I can make out, the locomotive in the third photo has number 515xx2. I will check more closely on the original when I ged home to see if I find anything better.

Those are great pictures of the TGVs. I do like that old orange color. My shots of the TVGs were taken in Gare Montparnesse, so are of the current color scheme for TGV atlantique.

Thanks, again for your information. It is a great help.

Yes, I make it out as a six-digit number, but unless some renumbering has taken place, it does not exist [IMG]

Yes, I like the old colours on TGV's, and wonder if any are still in this scheme, as they are all now being painted in the blue and grey as they are refurbished. I don't know if the roof line is being altered as they are done. If not, it will be a good spotting point for the original units.

Either way, TGV's are awesome pieces of equipment!

I just checked the print. The number is 516102.

One thing that amazed me about the TGVs was what happened when I was taking these pictures. I had walked down the platform until I was next to the head end of a train set that was about to depart. When it started, I discovered it was moving for at least five seconds, or more, before I heard any sound from it.
