    Here's my train parked on another take on a gauntlet at Brisbane's Roma Street station. The normal three rail dual gauge (standard/3'6") changes to four rail to give clearances for both to use a former narrow gauge platform after the dedicated standard gauge one gave way to a bus station. It's not a gauntlet/gantlet in the true sense but is officially refered to as a gauntlet by QR.

    I believe by rail jargon that the "switch" technically is the "frog", so no frog, no switch.

    Must be something else.

    no ... but I didn't have a better term for it since it isn't really a gauntlet track either.

    When running CSX freights along the NEC between Bowie and Landover (MD.) we had to use the gauntlet tracks through the platforms at stations. Yes, Amtrak does call them Gauntlets in the timetable and they have points, but no frogs.
