Probably being converted to a slug.

Funny thing about 30 or 40-year-old EMDs is, I never think of them as "old" or as having outlived their usefulness.

One of their new high mileage imaginary fuel units.

Hard to say. Could be under repair from a minor derailment.

It would be cheaper to simply install a mast and sail.... [IMG]

Hmmm... that class of loco was originally built as an SD40 and rebuilt by Conrail to SD40-2 standards.... I wonder if it just getting a fuel tank replacement or if it is line for their SD38-2 project???

Roanoke doesn't do conversion/rebuilds anymore... Juniata does.

There was a UP GP60 w/o a tank here earlier... 3445 probably donted her tank to that unit.

It might be a test of the current Class 1 RR theory...
If we yell loud enough, order it to work and threaten it with dismissal, it should pull a mile of coal train and run on nothing but hot air.

According to one of my NS books, # 3445 was built in 1967! It has worn many #'s & road names: B&O 7483, CNJ 3062, CR 6287, and CR 6996!

I caught NS 1620 on a train last week: high nose SD40!
