Hello Zscalers, Full Throttle has released a new Body Style. It is a 33' 2-Bay Hopper in PRR and ATSF. They are equiped with MTL Magne-Matic Knuckle couplers and very impressive paint. The Loads are made by Hay Brothers Garage as usual. Check them out at: http://www.zscalemonster.com/full_throttle/
There are 6 different numbers. If you buy the smaller sets, the numbers are picked at random from the 6-pack. I am not sure how they would translate to the N scale hopper.
Mike is just too lazy to look at the photo's : http://www.zscalemonster.com/full_throttle/2bay/prr-h.jpg http://www.zscalemonster.com/full_throttle/2bay/atsf-h.jpg
That is right, save on shipping as Rob said. If the need arises, I am happy to combine orders as always. If any additional orders are placed, your unneeded shipping fees will be refunded. Don't forget that orders over $350.00 (even combined orders) can add up to the free shipping level. Z scale should be a Hobby not a hassle.
The 6 car sets have six different road numbers, plus, they have a few different coal loads. A very nice touch. Uncle Will and Hay Brothers make a good team. Oh, and these are REALLY nice little cars. Dan S.
HMMM.. Too bad i just got 9 MTl cars free:shade: :shade: I simply have NO space or track for more wagons...
Special thanks to Uncle Will! Once again he steps up to expand our scale with quality rolling stock - and more than one or two road numbers per road name. Special thanks to Anthony who was first up on TB with the announcement.
No, the only thing that I can say is that I was told that there are so many different roads and liveries to do that there wouldn't be time for reprints. So, I would guess that there will be many different roads, and different liveries in those roads. I just hope Uncle Will gives me time, between the liveries that I want, to build my funds back up. I think the next several runs are already planned, though. Dan S.
Oh, by the way, I was able to pull 24 of these and an MT caboose with no wheel slippage using a single Marklin Mikado. I also tipped my test track a bit to give it a bit of a grade, still no problems. At last, a good hopper consist for marklin steam. I could only pull 11 FRs. I'm guessing that 30 of these will still work. Dan S.
Did you do something to your Mikado? I can't pull more than 10 slippery free rolling cars without the drivers spinning?
Sorry, I have been wanting to post this all week. I test ran 12 of the new two bay hoppers last week. I ran them behind 2x GP35. Behind the hoppers were at least a dozen double stacks. These new two bays ran great! Even with all the weight of the double stacks behind them, they tracked perfectly and never derailed once. We ran them for almost 2 hours. Will and Bowser did a wonderful job. The Hay Bros loads are awesome as always. Rob
So... you guys knew I was gonna do it: Two plates of .020" styrene sandwiched together, one with a recess for the coupler. Every little bit helps! Don't forget when two cars are coupled together the distance the gap closes will be twice as much. This one took a bit more work since there is no frame to simply re-mount the couplers too. Also trimmed back the bolster (see red line) and cut the back of the coupler box off. I'll just say this, there is nothing wrong with truck mounted couplers. They just stick out too far. MT could fix this, but they have this tooling so I doubt they ever will change it ($$$).
well done Chris333 !!! beat me to it again... but it's only because I am still waiting for mine:embarassed: are you lowering them as well? Chris
I didn't lower these, they look OK as is to me. You could lower them about .020", any more than that and the body will need notched more than it is and that is a pretty thin area to be playing with on this car. I also filled in the frame with bits of styrene so they extend out to the bolsters. This way light doesn't show through when look at the side silhouette. I'll post more pic's when it's done. Hey they just landed on my doorstep 2 hours ago!
I got the drawings for this car, as NP purchased them, and the dump door is 9" from the rails if you want to measure. NP crews hated them, so after only purchasing 49 of these cars they bought from a different car manufacturer, 55 ton cars that had doors 15" above the rails.
PRR version was 12" from the rails (that's .055" in Z :shade I will check mine and adjust as necessary Chris
Hard to measure, but I got .065" or 14.3 Z scale inches. Although not the same car, this PRR GLa drawing shows 12": http://prr.railfan.net/freight/PRRdiagrams.html?diag=GLa.gif&fr=cl The height is 10' and that matches this Full Throttle car. Guess my next one will have extended end sills and vertical brake wheel ala GLa.
