I am posting this just for the fun of it. The picture was taken last Wednesday, Jan 8th, at the Danbury Railway Museum.
Nice shot, Peirce, definitely Christmas card material. Of course, in the good old days, that engine would have been mighty hot and melted all that snow off.

I remember one of the 1400 class being the power for a work train during a ballast job way back in 1945 just east of the Hoosac tunnel. I was a signal helper then and the work train came out of North Adams. The electric motors pulled the train through the tunnel each morning and night. Not many years after that the electric zone and the motors were gone as the steam engines were replaced by diesels.
