I finally got my GP 35 this last weekend and I truely like the model. I run gaugemasters on both loops and have been running mine with the gaugemaster. Now, I do not think the gaugemaster would hurt the engine, but I noticed it is a little louder running with the gaugemaster than without. Almost a little buzzy if you will. Now granted it is much quiter than my f-7's but than again what isn't? [IMG] My point is this, I disconnected the gaugemaster and noticed that the GP ran more quiet. So why the noise discrepancy? I don't know. Again, I surely hope the increased in noise is not something that would harm the engine. It's performance seems to be the same with or without it. I run all my other trians with the gaugemaster and they are fine. Just a little curious and wondering if anybody else has expreinced this.

I ran a pair of mine with the Gaugemaster all day at the GATS. It was a Sunday, and there were only 4 of us running the 2 module tracks, and 4 small stand alone layouts, so I just left the train on all day.

2 locomotives pulling 12 50' boxcars and a caboose. No derailments and no stalls. The locomotives seemed to run just fine, but being at a show, I could not tell if there was any strange noise.

I don't think there was any damage though.

Great Robert, I wouldn't think they'd hurt, it just was kinda weird that they sounded more quiet without. Becasue without a doubt the gaugemaster improves the performance of every other loco that I have!

Has anyone ran a GP35 with MT F-units together, like 1 GP and 1 F back to back? [IMG] Where would I find out about gear ratio's and such?

Hi. I just ran my GP-35 on a Train show for about 5+5houres non stop with a Relco unit connected to the tracks. So far it still seems to run fine.
Relco is about the same as Gaugemaster I think?

Yes, i was told the Relco and Gaugemaster work the same way.

I also want to note that when we stopped the train after 7 hours of running, the locomotives were COOL to the touch. Not warm, not hot, but as though there was no motor inside at all! This was with the Gaugemaster. :D

Kurt, I tried to run both of them together and the F-7, is just a bit faster. So I suppose using that logic you need to put the f-7 on the point, and have the GP run after. Of course my f-7 seems to be able to pull evey car on my layout so I have no need to run them together. By the way Robert I ran mine for a bit tonight and mine runs cool to the touch as you stated.

Isn't that something? I never had a locomotive that after running was still cool as though it had not been running before.

It stands to reason, that no heat, very low friction, making me think this locomotive might be one of the most effecient models ever built.

I am really happy with mine.
