GE made this film in 1915 to promote electric locomotives. An early MILW juice jack was used to feature locomotive progress. It takes a little while to get past the klutziness, but the film ends up with some nice scenery along the MILW with box cabs in operation. GE Electric Locomotive Promo Film
Thank you very much. I just bought one of those old MILW electric substations and it gave me chills to watch the train running by it!
The substation seen was Janney, east of Butte. If this was made in 1915, the lines noted as having been electrified should not be correct. As I recall that history, west of Deer Lodge was not finished until 1916. And the Othello-Tacoma finished in 1918.
The building I'm working on is the Primrose substation west of Missoula, though it seems most of those substations were nearly identical. Is the Janney station still around?
Janney Substation #6 is long gone. Not sure when it was razed, but only the foundation and a couple shacks exist. This is all that's left (as of 2009):
