Ely/Calumet/East Ely,NV Located 240 miles from both Salt Lake City and Las Vegas, Ely is the home of the Nevada Northern Railroad Museum, which operates both steam and diesel excursions from Ely to either Keystone or Ruth. The yard was once part of the Nevada Northern RR, which hauled copper ore from the Kimberly pit to the smelters at Ruth, and blister copper north to the Western Pacific and Southern Pacific interchanges. The museum used to have advertising getting people to ride the Ghost Train along part of US50 (the-so-called "Loneliest Road in America")or up the Incline grade to Ruth, hence my "halloween" reference.
