It's not Flathead, Cascade, or Mullan Tunnels. Doesn't seem to be a Rio Grande tunnel--no roads go directly over them that close to the portals.
Not Bozeman or Stampede Tunnel, Snoqualmie Tunnel hasn't had rails in 25 years.
I'm running out of long tunnels, as it seemt his one might be.
    Will search more tonite.

    I'll bet it's right in a place I have been....

    A little SE of Truckee.

Only recognize it so quick, as I was just there yesterday, looking around!

    I thinking that it is.
Battle for Donner Pass indicates that SP crews refere to Tunnel 41 as "The Big Hole".
But, I do NOT see the turntable support structures above the tunnel. As seen/mentioned on DVD.
Has an out of service turntable, for turning locomotives once.
Also seres as a fueling point for locomotives.
At least referenced as such on previously mentioned DVD.

Norden's snowshed has the turntable. The Big Hole is the 2 mile tunnel. AKA Tunnel 41. That is the Big Hole, I just verified that.

I thought that this was active still? The granite line #1 Track was removed. This is the active mainline, I thought??

The old #1 track is here on the side of the mountain:
    Lat 39.3156°
    Long -120.322°

This was my initial thought when you said Donner Pass...

    Still an active line.
    Old turntable no longer active.
Wasn't sure which tunnel/snowshed contained the turntable remains!
    Thanks for that info.

    When was other route removed??
Looks like it was still in use when Battle for Donner Pass was filmed.

Norden was the snowshed with the TT, IIRC.
    Just east of Soda Springs.
