Went through the eye thing last year and now this year another big challenge. Had a small stroke last night that has left me basically one armed for now. Back from the doctor and will start a battery of tests tomorrow to see what I am facing. So I will be absent for awhile whilst I attempt a comeback. It has been fun just typing this with one hand. Managed to get at least one pickle car built before things took a downhill turn, but that will be it for awhile.
Sorry to hear the your news John, lets hope the battery of tests do the trick and your comeback is soon. -James
Wishing you a full and speedy recovery! Please don't dream about N scale pickle loads in the meantime - I know it probably has crossed your mind.
John, we're praying for the best. Hope you were able to get to an ER in time for full scans, and clot dissolvers. You should have the best docs and facilities in your area, just don't bring up politics or immigration. I'm very glad to see you can still type, and with coherent thoughts...well, as coherent as you've ever had. LOL
Yikes! So very sad to read your message. Your modeling and sense of humor will be missed, during this brief absence! Take care and come back soon!
Best wishes for a SPEEDY return to health. PLEASE continue to post, even if you can not do your bashes or build models, and even if you can type only with one hand (for as long as you can type, that is). I have found both your commentary and modelling instructive.
Thanks for the kind thoughts everyone. Can only hold a cup of coffee in one hand. , have to watch how I swallow when eating, and a 20 sec. trip down the stairs is now more like a minute and one half. Doctor has me on meds. and the tests most likely will tell the how and where. Tire real quickly and my balance is shot to Hades. Have my missus taking care of me, helps to have a nurse in the family. But something I have to face is that any positive progress will take a long while if I can get back to 100%. Now if I can just get Deekus the Cat to assemble kits and replace trucks.
Thoughts and Prayers for you John. You have contributed so much and I always look forward to your instructive, insightful and humorous posts. Just like modeling, be patient and use the skills that you have and have shared to recover.
Having watched cats open screen doors, get stuff from pantry cabinets, etc., I'm sure Deekus will master "Shake The Box" kits in a couple of weeks, and bashing in three to four months. C'mon, John, by the end of the year he'll be showing you assembly tricks you never thought of. Just try to keep him from sniffing the glue....LOL
John, In my first pastoral appointment an 86 year-old grandmother told me there was only one way to keep from getting old! May God be with you and you doctors.
John, Best wishes to you and may God watch over you and your family. I will pray for a speedy, healthy recovery for you! Good luck! Dean
If you can do this, you'll be the richest man the world has ever known. You can buy your own model RR factory and have them build anything your heart might desire!
