Welcome to the world of Pigments
Through its range of high performance Monastral and Monolite pigments, Gibert Pigments & Additives is a global partner to the world's leading paint manufacturers. Primary applications include automotive OEM and automotive refinish, general industrial and decorative paints, with many products suitable for use in both solvent and water-borne finishes, thereby fulfilling the requirement of 'universality' which is becoming increasingly important within the paint industry.

Plastics play an integral part of modern lifestyles - from car light clusters and toys to household goods and packaging - and our range of Vynamon pigments and Waxoline dyes keep Gilbert Pigments at the forefront of plastics coloration.

In addition to pigments for Paints and Plastics,Gilbert Pigments also offers products for Powder Coatings and Woodstains.

All product names referred to herein are trade names owned by Gilbert Pigments
The plant located in the industrial city of Abercom served by the MAT railway is based on an actual pigment plant I used to see when I commuted to Toronto on the Lakshore GO service. I had always thought it would make a good scratcbuilding project. The name was chosen from the NARA members so this one's for Larry Gilbert.

Yes it is mostly cardboard and a few bits of doweling and the white pipes are hookup wire.

Robin. You continue to amaze us with your cheap constructions that look like a million dollar industry. Maybe you could make some industries for train board members and get some extra $$$ to finance your new layout.

Very nicely done! If you hadn't told us, I'd never known it was cardboard.

    How's this for a slogan:

"We supply the pigment of your imagination"

(well, OK, maybe not....... :D )

As always I am awed by your talent sir :D Maybe I will actually get a chance to build using your technique since I just joined a club and they are planning on expanding their narrow guage line...that means it will need industry to serve!! I have to agree with folks here...you could do custom building for Trainboarders and add some cash to the railroad coffer ;) . Keep em comin!!

    Thanks for the comments everyone.
John, I have about another 100 structures to build before I think I have enough for the MAT.
I will then make a few and take them to the local Train store and see if they may wish to carry them on consignment. The toughy will be trying to put any kind of value on them.
I don't think I would ever get into custom building as that wouldn't give me any time to operate my layout. Fun isn't it!!

    Robin,

You will be suprised how much of a market there is for building like yours. All my structures have been built by a friend of mine who like you uses mainly cardboard. i took some of his structures to my local hobby shop andhe now has a constant flow of income. Not bad for a guy who has been unemployable due to a back injury which happened years ago. My friend would build these structures just to keep his mind occupied.

Because I introduced him to the hobby shop he refuses to accept any money off me for my structures, I do however give him rollingstock for his layout as he can't afford to buy himself.

He build structures in all scales and now has a good little business going. the hobby shop owner told me that last weekend a customer bought $350US worth of structures.

Here is a picture of my layout with some of his work

IIRC, there were articles years ago about building with Strathmore. Looking at Robin's fine work, perhaps we need to revisit Strathmore again.

Robin, being a fellow model railroader I am truly inspired by your work, and your structures keep getting better and better.
You've reached the level of building that few of us could honestly say we have. Truly amazing work. And on that note, I think any hobby store that wouldn't display your work on consignment would be foolish not to. That's like telling the world that the Mona Lisa isn't fit to be displayed in an art muesum.
