I am in the process of modeling the GN mainline from Spokane, WA to Bonners Ferry, ID. and am on the search for any older photographs that you may have or know of. I am modeling Hillyard as accurately as possible so any photographs or track plans would be wonderfull. I am modeling from 1935-1950 so any photos from that time period or earlier would be wonderfull. Thank you

    Derek,

First off, welcome to Trainboard! This is a good place to get prototype info, and there are a lot of GN fans here.

That's kind of a trickier time frame for photos as there weren't as many eager amateur photographers out there, then. I will look around a bit. You may also check sites like rrpicturearchives.net and see if they have anything. Your best bet will probably be books.

Also, the University of Washington has an online collection of photos having to do with things in Washington. They might have something.

    Welcome aboard!

I wonder if there are any photos in the Ron Nixon collection at Museum of the Rockies?

    Good idea Boxcab

The Nixon Collection has 6 photos in the collection, all of steamers. Not much background to see.

Click on "Location Search" in the left frame, and choose Hillyard WA. I bet there is a wealth of information here for you derek.

Oh wow thank you twomule!!! You are right there is very little scenery but a number of pics are great detail scenes that I can recreate, plus a pic of the yardhouse (ive been looking for), the coaling tower which doesnt show up in any track diagrams and a number of older locos including a rare narrowgauge. I think I might put together a photo Essay with what I found and post it
