I wondered how big a train we could build if we all started contributing some pics, a loco here, a freightcar there....?

And because i'm unashamedly using an old UP slogan, I thought the lead unit ought to be yellow...(sorry  )

So come on folks, lets see how big this train gets...I think we need a couple more loco's at least before we start adding things for them to pull!

I think we do need some rules here...

    * We're ignoring guage, country, passenger/freight, coupling issues etc, lets see some interesting stuff from all over the place.

    * Prototype railway photo's only please, no drawings or models (I can hear you all go awwwwww!)

    * Let us know a little about what you are posting if you can.

    * I think if we get to 50 cars we can allow ourselves a mid train helper set! (OK i'm hoping here :D )

So who's up for this, can we have a couple more loco's to start us off please!

Well, that diesel won't do, Martyn. We need one of the most powerful 4-8-4's, a New York Central NIAGARA to power this train. This one, 5500, was equipt with Franklin poppet valves. A Harold K. Vollrath photo. [IMG]

Fitz, that's a great photo, and a fine looking loco [IMG] but i'm going to throw another diseasal in as the third in the consist.

This is EWS's 66173, a class 66 loco built by GM at London Ont. for the UK. These are similar to de-rated SD70's squished into a much lower, and double ended bodyshell!
EWS has 250 of these in use, with Freightliner and GB Railfreight having fleets of these machines as well in the UK, and there are others working in mainland Europe.

That'll do for power, but i'll start on the train now...

OUCH13080 is an ex-Sandersville boxcar, passing through Marion OH back in Sep 2000. I believe this is a PS5344 design boxcar, like the relatively recent Athearn model.

Here's a tank car. I like the British version of that diseasal better than the US version. :D
