What are the steps and/or instructions if I want to build and run a DCC layout in Z. To keep things simple. Let's say I was building a double loop with switches going to each loop and Rokuhan track. What else would I need? Shopping list? And where do I begin? I have run Z for many years. So, I am aware of what is out there...but never went DCC on anything I own. Thanks!

Clancy, its very simple. I would suggest going with NCE Powercab and TCS decoders, and thats all you need to buy. TCS decoders are almost drop in for GP35 and GP9, then hook up two wires from the powercab to the track.

If you want it simple you have two choices. Micro trains track and switches which are power everywhere types so no blocking required, or Rokuhan switches are power routing so you have to do blocking and consider where your trackfeeds are going so you do not get shorts. Rokuhan does have a video up on You-tube which shows you how to change their power routing switches to power every where style, in which case one Rokuhan and Micro trains track are equal electrically so only one power feed is all that is needed to feed the track, for single or twin cab operation. The only thing left to look out for are reverse loops and there are automatic controllers for controlling reverse loops in DCC. I also believe NCE Power Cab and TCS decoders is the way to go for engines .
