    Just what did they think they'd accomplish? Obviously it was a pre-meditated attempt, seeing the wedges, etc. If successful, they could never do anything with it. Too well known an item. Truly stupid people. Sickening.

    I'm guessing it's brass in material, and they were gonna' melt it down.

    Hard to sell something like this, when everyone knows where it came from, and how YOU got it!!

    Yes, they melt them down. No idea if it was fixed or if they came back again to finish the job.

    those things are usually made from bronze instead of brass or a bronze an brass mix....
