I'm in need of 2 GP18 sill's and handrail sets (new run ) , I was wondering if anyone has had any luck with ordering parts like this thru Walthers and what was the best way to contact them . Any other idea's to try to find these would also help !

    Thanks

I have ordered loco parts from Walters and I was amazed at how smooth the transaction went. Just call them with the part numbers and they will get them out to you.

If there is no luck getting the parts from Walthers you mat want to consider Gold Medal Models detail parts for the GP7-9-18 which has the brass side sills and thier handrail stanchion kit.

I also have had good luck ordering LL/Walthers parts.......I simply contacted customer service and told them what I needed and they got back to me fairly quickly. Atlas GP7/9 walkways work fairly well if you can't get Walthers units. You will need to glue the shells though, because the tabs are slightly different between the brands. Otherwise they are a perfect match. I've done a bunch of conversions with LL and Atlas to get chop-nosed GP9's using LL low nose shells and chassis w Atlas GP9 long hood shells, LL chassis w Atlas GP9 walkways and and long hoods w/SD24 cabs and short hoods, and using the LL GP18 long hoods to create phase 3 GP9s. Almost all the parts can be intechanged with zero to minor mods.
