How many roads did that merged into CSX provided GP40's for the roster (and name the roads)! Chessie ------------------ Harold Hodnett Fan of NS, CSX, and their predecessors! Coming soon: The North Carolina Railfan Web Site http://www.trainweb.org/ncrail/
Just off the top of my head, B&O C&O Chessie? Seaboard? I don't know when the merger was so i don't know maybe some early GP40s... I know there's probably 5 more!
Hey Chessie, Now, this is a tricky question. Only Seaboard, Chessie, and Conrail were merged into CSX, so that would be the answer. If you want predecessor roads, that would be tricky. ACL/SAL, B&O, C&O, WM, the list goes on, plus Conrail's predecessors. ------------------ Corey Lynch VP - Rensselaer Model RR Society NEB&W RR http://www.rpi.edu/~lynchc/Railfanning/railfanning.htm - My Site http://www.union.rpi.edu/railroad/ - NEB&W
Hey, I wanted the question to be interesting Why don't we try and name ALL of the roads, including the predecessor roads? Keep those answers comin'! chessie here a couple... Western Maryland, Baltimore & Ohio, Chesapeake & Ohio, Seaboard, Richmond Fredericksburg & Potomac, GARR,Chessie, L&N, WRA, A&WP, I believe GP40-2 from CR? Paul ------------------ Paul Van Herwegen Rappannahock Terminal Railway
Wow, Paul... you are either a big CSX fan or holding my answer key There could be some more..... Chessie ------------------ Harold Hodnett Fan of NS, CSX, and their predecessors! Coming soon: The North Carolina Railfan Web Site http://www.trainweb.org/ncrail/
I was reading something about the Seaboard GP40s were the first with the engine room vent... Of course that has nothing to do with the quiz just thought i'd share!
Well Chessie, I'm a 200% fan of Conrail , but since the 1st of june 1999 a part of it went to some obscure company and now I have to buy and learn about the locomotives of that company as well. Paul ------------------ Paul Van Herwegen Rappannahock Terminal Railway

wrong again, #7761 was on engine-time to Norfolk Southern and the two Norfolk Southern trains collided. ------------------ Appalachian & Atlantic Model Railroad "QUALITY at WORK with SAFTEY in MIND"
That's a relief, except they may get one of those big black things to cruise around in in the meantime Chessie ------------------ Harold Hodnett Fan of NS, CSX, and their predecessors! Coming soon: The North Carolina Railfan Web Site http://www.trainweb.org/ncrail/
As far as the quiz, I guess I need to make up an answer Here is what I have as original and later owners: ACL, SAL, B&O, C&O, WM, RF&P, A&WP, GARR, WRA. These units later in life belonged to SCL, SBD, CSX, and Chessie System. I am not sure if they received any CR units, but I am thinking not. If there are any that I left out, be sure to tell me Chessie ------------------ Harold Hodnett Fan of NS, CSX, and their predecessors!
