Any one have a link or a photo I can reference of Santa Fe GP7B's as delivered. I haven't been able to locate one. I'm looking to do 2 of them with matching GP7's. I need them just for number placement. Thanks in advanced. Nick
http://users.snowcrest.net/photobob/sfindex.html I would check here. I dunno what numbers to look for, but there's a wealth of info here.
According to Cinthia Priests' book the Santa Fe had the only GP7B's ever built. They were delivered in April 1953 and numbered 2788A - 2792A. Dan
Check in the ATSF All Time Diesel Roster for more info: ATSF Diesel Roster, Road Numbers 2750-2999 Also see pages 474 & 475 in Worley's "Iron Horses of the Santa Fe Trail". They all had dynamics & spent most of their careers in Texas paired to their A units. Later they got mixed w other GPs, F units & CF7s. They were delivered in zebra stripes 4/53 then painted pin stripe in early '60s. 2788A was wrecked & scrapped in '68. Update: All the pix in Fallen Flags are from the '70s & they are all pin stripe.
Nick, I did find a photo of 2791A in Zebra stripes. It is in Andy Sperandeo's, ATSF's GP7 Paint Shop article in the November 1985, Model Railroader, pg:136.
