The 21[SUP]st[/SUP] annual Greater St. Louis Metro Area Train Show is being held on Saturday, October 8 and Sunday, October 9, 2011. Hours are from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Saturday and 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Sunday. The show is open to the public. Admission is $5. Children ages 12 and under accompanied by an adult are free.

The show will be held at the Kirkwood Community Center, 111 South Geyer Road, just off Kirkwood Road (Lindbergh), in Kirkwood, Missouri. The phone number of the Community Center is (314) 822-5859.

The host for the show is the Mississippi Valley N Scalers model railroad club. There will be many operating model train layouts in various scales from Z to G, including one built entirely from Legos. It will feature swap tables with dealers coming in from around the country to offer every imaginable size and shape of model trains and accessories for sale. Drawings for a variety of door prizes will take place throughout both days of the show.

The Mississippi Valley N Scalers, the metro area’s oldest exclusively N Scale club, will display their national contest award winning N-Trak modular layout. Several trains run simultaneously on the three main lines, spur lines, and elevated tracks of this layout. Visitors might catch a glimpse of a hundred car ore train, sleek passenger trains, and locomotives ranging from early steam engines to the latest in diesel motive power. You can see a miniature carnival – 160[SUP]th[/SUP] normal size – complete with spinning rides and lighted concession stands. Many of these modules participated in the world’s largest N scale train layout at the National N Scale Convention.

Once again, this year you will see the latest in digital train control and sound technology.
