Does anyone have any pictures or brief historys of Green Island Iowa? I know the IC&E goes through there now but the Milwaukee Road use to go through there for passenger service and freight. The town from what i know is pretty much a ghost town and not incorprated. Any pics of the old depot would be great. Thanks

    Hi,

There is a picture of the Green Island, Iowa depot at this site:

I know that area well. I spent every summer in Green Island, Iowa, at my grandparents' home, which was located directly across the tracks from the old depot.

Here is what I remember of Green Island. Punch in the numbers ....wait..... do it again.....wait......cuss......again.....and just whenyou set a ton of air " South siding ( or North) Green Island lined Normal"I HATED that lol. I thought it was cool you could still see the ROW for heading off to Omaha from there.I wonder if that line would ahve survived what it would be like today? Would the SOO have even sold it?Would it be IC&E or another shortline?

Oh yeah and welcome to Trainboard
