Ive been in and out of model railroading since the mid 60s...mostly for lack of layout space reasons. Now with a whoop and a holler we dive into the HOn3 deep end with the wifes blessing provided I share the building experience with the grand kids.
Hi David, Welcome. Sharing with grandkids, in our case great-grands, became a no-brainer after our grandson first took them out to the train room. Now it's "c'mon granpa, run the trains.", so how can you resist?
You're going to find a lot in common with another of our admins when he chimes in here. Are you planning to do logging roads? Have fun getting going and welcome aboard!
Game plan is mining possibly using a bit of HOn2 (IIRC the N gage track user). Ya cant grow up in CO around Boulder-Nederland-Idaho Springs/Empire much less live 60 mi from Butte without getting fascinated by mine works. Also helps if the old man was an aperiodic prospector...
Hi David- I am fairly certain Eagle2 was alluding to me. I model in N and HOn30. HOn30 being the N scale track gauge. HOn2 is slightly narrower and I believe is a hand laid track venture. There was also a fellow in Polson who was dabbling in HOn30, but I have not heard from him is quite some time now.
