You are right on again Charlie. We had two or three automatic interlockings which could be run if you followed the instructions in the phone box or later by radio to the disp. If you could not contact ,operator or dispatcher, you followed instructions in the phone box and flagged the crossing. LEW

One of them,believe it or not, was at Rochelle IL and the other time was the BX crossing out on the C & I near Shabbona. I never really worked all that much out on freight, most of my service was in Suburban Operations on the METRA trains or as a yard monkey at Eola(my home terminal) or Cicero(a place I wished I'd never seen!), MOF when I retired, I was on the passenger engineers extra board at Aurora.(however I was on sick leave!).
