Thanks Jose, I've got a bridgeport at work. I was going to ask the machinest to do it for me but he was too busy. So off I went. I used a set of gauge blocks and your idea of measuring the tilt of the 4th driver . worked great no short
Hello Ben, I have not heard the SoundTraxx website version. It is loud from my perspective. I have a CC GS-4 with what I recall a DSX and in comparison the Tsunami has a crisper sound, both have 1/2" speakers. I was working on my layout with my head near the Kato, and the steam blowdown (?) came on and it was so loud..... I nearly lost a filling. What I did was use a Soundtraxx enclosure, and placed it at the front of the tender near the drawbar opening. I had to cut 1/3d of the weight in order to place the speaker in the cradle. An airtight speaker enclosure is the key. By the way, I needed a $50 programming booster for my Zephyr since this is my first Tsunami.
Just heard the sountraxx web sample sounded like a train just came through my house. But I have THX speakers on my computer. I heard from other people on the fourm that the soundtraxx oval speaker has a little better bass than the 1/2 round. I baught both with enclosures. I'll hook it up tommorw and let you know what I think
The sounds for all three loco sizes are at the bottom of this page: http://www.soundtraxx.com/products/dcc/tsunamisound.htm I tried to see and hear more of the YouTube prototype SP 4449's last night and could only get audio, no video. Don't know what's up with that. But the large steam Tsunami sounded much like the ones I heard previously. Big sound. Ben
The heavy Steam Tsunami Has all the sounds for GS4 Including Air horn. List the 4449 as included sound scheme
Just a quick up date, got all 4 of the add on cars and she pulls all 18 with no slip up 3% grade with 11" rad and 180deg turn. Had to work on the layout last 2 weeks, but back on the decoder install this week
If the problem is that the drive axles tilt a bit and short on the frame, then wont they also wear through a plastic clip?

For DCC, I think milling the frame is the only permanent fix short of Kato giving new frames to all their customers, which is highly unlikely.
I'm happy with my installation done by Top Hobby Trains. Scroll down to "DCC Sound installation." http://www.tophobbytrains.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=3155 Ben
