Hi , my name is Dave and I am a Engineer on the former GT district in Michigan .

I was wondering if any IC employees or IC railfans see GT power on the IC . Or if there is CN power being used on the IC .

If there is , how far from Michigan have some of you seen GT or CN units . Also does the IC have some new power , within the past 3 years ?

I would appreciate any info . Thanks !!

Here in Lincoln, IL. we see CN and GT Power on the Peoria Sub. A lot of the IC Power seems to be gone. :(

I just found some slides I forgot about, has some IC Death-Stars on them taken at Mt. Pulaski, IL. I don't have a scanner that will do slides so I can't post them at this time. I think there is some GT GP38-2's with the IC units I snapped there. Mt. Pulaski is a junction with the Peoria Sub and the Line between Beement (I think), Clinton and Springfield, IL. It's a pretty busy spot for two secondary mains. A good place for IC railfanning, until it really becomes CN, which is soon! CN has been real good for these two Subs, lots of improvments in phyiscal plant and service have been made.

    Hey Dave,
I live right on IC's Grenada Sub in Mississippi and we see so much GTW power that sometimes I think I live in Michigan. Often the local will run with two GTW GP38's. I have a section of my website with these pictures check under the GTW or the IC section there is a link to the photos from both sections. Redeker's Railroad Photos

Yes, that is a cool site. I lived in Baton Rouge for a while a few years ago. It was cool to have the KCS and IC as our local Railways. UP was across the River in West Baton Rouge and the old SP Sunset Route (now UP/BNSF) passed to the south of us.

    A local note:
Saw a GT/CN powered freight on the Peoria Sub yesterday. It was a pretty long train too. I've been keeping my Railway Scanner on so I can get an idea how many trains a day this line is now seeing. It was only one or two a day, both ways, until recently and those trains were no more than twenty cars or less. It seems now to be three or four a day and a heck of a lot more cars on these trains! It's good to see traffic up. [IMG]
