The railroad plans to increase speeds from 25 to 49 mph in several areas. The following changes will begin Sept. 1: In Gulfport, trains will remain at 25 mph until the lead locomotive passes Morton Road in Saucier. They will then increase to 49 mph. In Perkinston, train speed will remain at 25 mph until the lead locomotive passes Third Street. Then they will speed up to 49 mph. In Wiggins, trains will operate at 10 mph until they pass State Route 26, then they can increase to 25 mph. When they pass Davis Avenue, they can speed up to 49 mph.
