Hi all, just a small kit bashing on the weekend, a modified Fannocreek Woodchip Hopper kit. Prototype for my conversionis is a Gunderson Woodchip Hopper running for BN. Modifications: cut of some ribs new ends scratchbuild from leftover material BN green from Floquil custom made decals
Nice work Gerd! I like the way you think, as I was thinking the same thing: Under construction: Finished one:
Very nice Robert, but I think you had the idea first looking on Juerg's picture. I get in the meantime the impression Juerg is getting the stuff before the manufacturer knows about the project himself Didn't know that you have done Woodchip Hoppers too, I think you have already set up everything existing with 8 wheels for your laser...
Some more Woodchip Hopper made from Robert Ray's part kit, this time for Volker Toepfer in Germany. One Hopper with woodchip load, one covered with canvas. Custom weathering and ageing.
Some more Gunderson Woodchip Hopper, built from Robert Ray kits, for Markus Gaa in Germany. Here No.1 in fresh MRL paint with load:
I missed out on the shallow rib cars from Fanno Creek and Robert Ray, wish they were still available or something Gerd would do in photo etch! I did send a deep rib car drawing to Shapeways. It turned out pretty good, but I haven't had a chance to update the bolster height. Here's the start of one in BN and another ex-NP with the odd handpainted load limit stripe.
Hi Mike, They look great, I guess it can't be done better with etched parts due the deep side ribs. Correct, you should change the bolster height or better said the position of the floor to match the look. The surface is extremely good looking for Shapeways. As far as I know the odd limit line was added because that good, old woodchip gondola was abused for scrap and rubbish...
