I have an older Life Like Proto 2000 GP30 and I am trying to install nose headlights. I need to remove the weight (all one piece for this engine) to remove part of the nose section to allow enough room for the LED light installation. How do I get the weight out?

I have removed the shell and the screw at each end that goes into the weight. I have also removed the fuel tank. The weight still won't come off. Somehow I need to separate it from the frame. Is there another set of screws I can't see?

Thanks for the help on this one.

BTW, this engine has been converted to DCC. Eight pin plug.

    Thanks!

I'll say that those two posts right there hit the nail on the head! Thanks, guys. It's exactly the information I needed.

I would also say the H0 Seeker website is a very good one. Something I will use a lot.

I may have another way of cutting the nose. I'll turn it upside down (so no shavings get in the mechanism) and use a jigsaw with a metal blade. I'm still thinking about it.

Here's the way I did the cutting holding the engine upside down in a vise. Used a jigsaw with a metal blade. Shavings everywhere! That is why I covered the mechanism first. I don't think the unit is damaged, It does run on DC. I have rewired the lights and will test and reprogram on DCC this afternoon.
