if you look at the dash 9 in the newest modelrr magazine it has orange under the bottom gold stripe on the front of the cab.i can't find any more pics of engines like this one.Is it a special one?Was the orange later painted green?I just cant find any rhyme or reason for this.Any answers might help me not loose my mind.
    Thanks.

Also keep in mind that the cigar bands have different size lettering.

I think the locos with the orange under that stripe are numberd from the 4300's through the 4500's and all of the other new stuff.

I noticed the different cigar band too. Just goes to show, if you want it to look EXACTLY like the real one, you better get pictures!

Microscale kept track of orange & green below cigar band and also large & small BNSF. Contact them via email & they may send a list. Their latest BNSF Dash 9 decal set may have info as it comes w/ large BNSF.

I have their latest decal sheet for the H2's.I don't think it is very correct on the information.I have looked up some of the engines and they aren't decorated the way(color under hood stripe)that Micro-scale says they are.I haven't checked out the whole cigar band letter size thing yet.

I have a picture of BNSF #5454, and it has orange under the bottom stripe in the front. I think orange is the new "thing" in BNSFs color scheme world.
