Hi, I am new to model rr. Just starting a 4x8 lay0out in bsmt. I am planning on going dcc. I like to play golf, travel, in the past I was an avid soaring pilot. But time moves on, I now like tospend a lot of time with tht gand kids. Hal t
Welcome aboard, Hal. I would like to hear some of your soaring tales. Used to live in the Antelope Valley, CA amid a lot of sailplane flyers. Only did it once.
Hi Hal, Welcome to the TrainBoard, we're glad that you're aboard. I guess railroad modeling is like a mix of soaring and golf. There are times that you serenely watch trains move through the gorgeous scenery that you have created. On the other hand you often feel like throwing the errant car or structure against the wall out of frustration. Though a great way to relieve stress....LOL
hboy:Hi Jim, well I soared for about 20 years, had a great time, met some wonderful people. Soaring is a wonderful sport, very exciting, and at times abit scary, my wife and I really enjoyed the many wonderful friends we made. I would like to ask u a question re: dcc, can i run my atlas manual turn table on dc, whioe the rest of my layout is dcc???? I hope u have wonderful Christmas and a very happy and healkthy New Year. Hal t
Hal, I'm afraid I can't answer your question about dcc, dc, atlas, as I do not model (probably one of the very few on this board), but there are many knowledgable folks here who will be able to help. I'm a 12 inch to the foot steam snob. Live close to SP 4449 and miss few of her outings. One thing I can do is come back with the Christmas greetings--you and yours have a Merry one, and I hope that 2013 will be kind to you.
Welcome aboard, Hal. I'd suggest you pose the turntable question over in either HO or DCC forums. I can't help either, as I was never a DCC user...oh, who am I kidding, I'm an analog person...Anyway, if you ask the question over there, you're likely to get your answer, suggections on how to set it all up if possible and probably recommendations for a better turntable - in other words, more info than you asked for!
Welcome aboard Hal, my Dad flew sailplanes in the White Mtn area of New Hampshire back in the 1970's. I have a few RC Sailplanes I fly occasionally but nothing full scale. Glad to have you aboard!
