    Hello,

I am new here but I thought I would share a photo. I was browsing trainorders.com, and I saw that there were some people who had been trying to get a photo of an elusive SW9 in captive service for many years. This little switcher is owned by Hanson Aggregates and switches their Permanente Cement Plant in Cupertino, CA at the south end of the San Francisco Bay. It very rarely ventures anywhere near public property, so it can be a hard target to shoot.

I have access to the site, so I thought I would post a photo of the critter for you folks. I do apologize for the poor quality, but I only had a fleeting opportunity to photograph the locomotive. I will get some better photos when I get a chance.

I always appreciate a photo of a hard-to-spot subject, so I hope someone enjoys this. Thanks to the administrators for setting up such a convenient website. The community here seems very active!

    Thanks,
    David in San Diego

Great! Hope you do get some more photos.

I agree about trespassing in a cement plant...very dangerous.

    Welcome to TrainBoard.

As long as you're up there, you could get some pictures of them long UP coal trains that feed the plant!

I lived in Campbell for many years and pretty much that was the only thing running through town, aside from the very, very rare load of lumber for Economy Lumber.
