Hey Joe, Contact me at work on Monday Joe@micro-trains.com and remind me, I have a stash of cars and that one sounds real familiar. Cheers Joe MTL
I'd like to find someone willing to part with one of the 20 AZL CNW C44-9s. But that not being likely, I will hoping to get a pair of the warbonnets before they are sold-out for conversion.
Those CNWs were nice... I just loved the scheme. I kick myself since I did not keep one for my collection. The ATSF C44s are a great value. AZL has NEVER increased the prices on these and they are still available at the price they were released in 2000. But, we are getting closer to selling out of them. Rob
Paul, Brian Zimmerman, has repainted couple of geeps into CNW, so there are decals that will fit the dash9. With the AZL C44-9, some of them can run rough. If you can find a dealer near you, go see how they run. Like most AZL brass, it requires a break in period. I have one that is a very smooth runner and pulls like a mule.
John she is a beaut. How much did you pay for it? I was going to buy 3 of his tank car kits at first, but I changed my mind. After looking over the instructions on his website I decided that they were too advanced, even for an extremely skilled modeler. i believe Kurt went a little too far above our heads with this kit.
Harold, I traded with Jurg. I had a car that Jurg wanted. I saw how he build it before, so I knew it was not for me, at least in kit form. Bending and soldering is not something I do well.
that is sweet! i have no particular use for C&NW, but i can't help but be attracted by their scheme. i think their SD40-2 in this paint is one of the nicer ones! plus, having been taken over by the Borg (UP) makes them cousins now with the Rio Grande and SP ... and WP and MKT, ad infinitum ... it's a pretty locomotive, joe. does the green color match with polly S or floquil paints? i'm sure people would like to know as there will undoubtedly be some dynamic brake removal mods planned for the weeks ahead. dave f.
Hi Dave, It should match up with the Floquil paints as we use those sometimes as color keys. Like you I don't need any of these, but I know a lot of Midwest Modelers will like them. Joe
Interesting question. After years of collecting and deciding to finally do some train running, in the last year and a half, I have sold several of the items mentioned above, including 2 Rogues (SP and Conrail), complete Amtrak set, the Chicago Railcar caboose and hopper, and the Micro Structures brass hopper kits. Also three Portland Railcar items, and several FR items. Hanging on to my MTL Mogul and Conrail caboose-please no offers. Only wish I had bought several more of each of these items at the time ;-)
Outstanding! I'd be one of those Midwestern types that does have a use for them. I'd hadn't figured I would see any anytime soon so I was in the works to repaint some. I'm sure glad I hadn't started project just yet, though as this should make things a trifle easier. They'll go real nice with all the Milwaukee Road and SOO equipment. The wife isn't going to be to happy though.
Pat, I am sure you already know this, but be sure and clean and relube that mogul before you run it full time, those motors are kinda funny. Joe, I like that CNW scheme. Really looks attractive.
