I’ve noticed a few ExFrisco GP 38-2’s headlight has been moved back to it’s original position. One example is #2321. Here is 2321 in Saginaw, Texas. On 1/12/2006. With it’s headlight in the nose. http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=264991 Now here is a shot of that same unit in Davenport, Iowa on 9/5/2019. With a cover on the nose where the headlight used to be. And the headlight back up top. http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=5197398 Where it was when this unit was first built. I’ve seen a few more recently getting their headlight moved back. Their unit numbers escape me at the moment. My questions are. Does anyone know how many are getting switched back?? And why??? Is it just a select few getting this treatment??? I thought the crews liked the headlight better, lower in the nose. Thanks, Joel
Interesting question, i'd be interested to know why. Is there any thing in it giving a better spread of light or better visibility at grade crossings etc?
