Can anyone tell me how to remove the front truck of a Bachmann Heisler. I have a binding somewhere. The motor drives the front axel properly (with the side rods removed) but the back axel which drives the shaft underneath to the valve gear only allows that shaft to turn about one revolution before a hard stop. I would like to remove the front truck completely to separate it from the shaft underneath and valve gear to isolate the problem further. Not sure what screws to tackle.

I will reply to my own question.

There is one tiny screw on either side of the chassis rails into a casting that is UNDER the truck and its swivel contact boards (when the Heisler is upside down). Removing that screw on each side, lets you pull the whole truck with its swivel contacts and that casting up out of the (upside down) chassis rails. Then from the side of that casting opposite to the truck, there is one central screw that separates this casting from the truck and its contacts arrangement. Getting the truck apart is another matter as I have an 81797 model that has side frames outside the main truck frames and those side frames make it VERY difficult to get at some of the screws to separate the halves of the truck. I had to make a special tool to fit down between the frames.
