Hello, Royal Blue, Yes, this place is awfully quiet. About as busy as the depot in Henry, Illinois, perhaps. There was a news story in the Ottawa, Illinois Daily Times about Amtrak considering running its proposed Chicago-Des Moines train on the CSX to the Quad Cities and then beyond in the IAIS. Personally, I don't believe it.
As my wife observes the Rock Island fans tend to reflect the railroad itself. I guess she means we all sit around and wait for someone else to do the job. No. I'm not laughing either. I agree with you. Lets find some topics and get this site going. You can never say too much about the Rock Island!!!!!
Hi, Arnold. Tell Julie that she has a most astute observation. Guess we spent too much time waiting for something to happen in the "old days."
Hello Rock fans, I grew up watching the Rock in my home town of Lasalle-Peru Illinois. I used to fish in the Il river and would see the rock running by on the top of the hill. I model the Rock island on my n-scale layout. BRIAN TIDABACK "The Rock"
I was wondering if you'd buzz-in Cuz. Yeah, I remember many times Jack and Dale would go down to the old "Q" tracks with Scott and I to shoot BB-Guns and the "Rockets" would whizz by with about six locos to haul a 50 car freight. They'd make a hell of a racket, the ones that were running, that is. I miss "The Rock" and going to L-P to see all my family up there, they seem to be everywhere but La Salle-Peru. Thank God US 51 is now I-39, makes the trip a lot easier! ------------------ BNSF RAILFAN-TO-THE-MAX! Brent Tidaback, Member #234 and a N-Scaler to boot!
