I'm making my first post to trainboard. I'm brand new to this and am doing N Scale so I can get more layout in a small area. It started when I bought a Bachmann Highballer train set.

Since the train set used EZ track, I've stayed with EZ track. Don't particularly like the turnouts. I've tweaked them and they're okay, usually. I've since picked up the Backmann EZ Commander and I like DCC. I have 3 Bachmann GP7's and a 6 axle Altas diesel, can't remember it's name, though.

I'm looking more and more at using flex track, but am not comfortable making the jump from EZ track. I kinda like just snapping track together.

If I went with flex track, are their any GOOD turnouts on the market.

Right now, I'm building myself a helix. Having to figure as I go. I saw some "already made" helices on the net, but am enjoying making me one. Of course, I may end up scrapping it and buying one.

    Bye,
    Hack

    (I use Hack as my pen-name because I am a right leg amputee and ride a Harley Roadking with a sidecar attached to it. The sidecar is AKA a "hack".}

Welcome. Ez track is nice for the reasons you know, but it limits you
In the designs you can make due to it's small number of pieces. Kato
Makes a similar product that has more choices in pieces and it makes
Design easier. Flex track opens it up and you cqn make anything you want.
Peco and atlas are the two major brands of track. Peco is a european
Model and as such doesn't look like true US track. To me that does not matter
As much as the sprung poings that stay where you move them without any added
Equipment like a switch machine. Atlas track looks better IMHO but the turnouts
Need a switch stand or machine to keep the points where you want them. Both
Are fine products and i have both on my modules. If you want some helix advise
Look for a member named ppuin and he has a great volume of info on helixes on
His blog page on this site. Dont be afraid of flex, it is extremely useful and is easy
To put down once you get the hang of it.
