Hi! My name is Victor (viclioce) and I have just joined this forum! I hope this forum will develop into something similar to what we have on another forum for our Suzuki VL1500 motorcycles, that being, an invaluable resource for help, a place to make new friends and an atmosphere that becomes like a second family! I'm not new to model railroading. I first started when I was a pre-teen with a typical Lionel train set of the day. Don't remember the scale, but I am assuming it's the next size larger than HO??? Currently, I am exclusively in the HO scale trains. I use them for a variety of reasons. One, is the obligatory train under the annual Xmas tree! (yeah I know, pretty corny!). Another is I have 3 grandsons ages 8 through 12 and they all have had their interests in model railroading by my taking them to a local club's model railroad show this past year. So, I plan on setting up a more permanent setup in my 2nd floor loft as soon as my youngest daughter moves out on her own (for the second time!) which should be around Christmas or sometime shortly before the end of the year. I am 56 years old, have had HO scale trains now for about 20+ years and finally retired a few years ago from my job as an IT professional for the New Mexico State Police. So, I'm hoping model railroading will be something I can do to fill some of my time both when alone and with my grandsons before they get too old to think "trains just aren't cool!" Of course, the setup upstairs is all contingent upon not receiving disapproval from the better half, but I think I can sweet talk her into it since the grandsons are the loves of her life!!! Well that's about it for now. I do have another post out there regarding a problem with a Bachmann F9 engine. So please read that one and let me know what you think! ; P Victor
Welcome to TrainBoard! Nothing corny about that train under your tree. Many, many of us usually have something similar. Anyhow, please keep us updated as you plan that HO empire and then build it!
Trains never "just aren't cool" now are they? Heck, if nothing else, they're about the ultimate in horsepower that doesn't float...Good to have you with us!
Welcome to the Trainboard. And Model railroading sure will take of some of your spare time. Enjoy it's built rite in
Welcome aboard, Victor. Retirement is great. You will soon wonder how you ever had time to go to work. Sharing the hobby with grandchildren is a great thing, too. I think you will enjoy it here.
