Hi folks. Perhaps doing another layout! I had built the old "granite gorge and northern" 16 years ago. Fully scenicked (well to the best of my ability) and controlled by DCC. Played with it for 10 years or so, and decided I was done for a while. So in the dumpster it went. Learned a lot! Still have the DCC system of course and my stock. Last year I got roped into helping to run our town annual holiday train show. It has a mix of gauges and is quite a nice show for a temporary setup. So of course this has gotten me back interested! I have a good sized basement, but this time looking to build something that runs along one longish wall. Not an "island". I'd like to have something that has at least one mainline that can run continously while I play switching in the middle somewhere. I really don't model a particular railroad, but generally prefer the diesel era of things. Nice to meet you all. Paul
Hi Paul, Welcome to the TrainBoard. We're glad to have you back into model railroading, and looking forward to chatting and seeing photos. Curious as to your location in SW CT. I was born in Mt Kisco, NY, lived many years in Bedford Hills, had a close girlfriend in Ridgefield, CT (though she married someone else), and spent many hours drooling at NH Juice Jacks screaming through Stamford station in the early 1950s.
Thanks for the warm welcome! Hytec, I am in Wilton, so a stone's throw from your old hunting grounds.
Welcome to Trainboard, Paul. Maybe you could provide us with some pics as you progress with your new 'empire'.
