Thanks for admission to the TrainBoard. I am new to the hobby. My goal is to build a model railroad for me and my grandkids. Since I am a retiree on a fixed income, I will be somewhat limited by budget. Any and all advice will be appreciated.

Hi Jim, welcome. Most of us are either retired, or creating something. but we all are on a limited budget. So ask away and we'll answer how you can make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. :ROFLMAO:

    Welcome to TrainBoard!

You did not mention any particular scale for your future empire. This might be a good starting point, discussing how to make that choice? Probably a good topic to begin in our "Inspection Pit" forum.
