Does anyone know why my Kato BR86 rund so poorly? :(
Ever since I bought it last year, it sputters, stops, needs a little push to go. The front wheels seem to be to light, and deral.
My new Mikado runs like a trooper, seems to be much heavier.
The wheels are clean on the BR86, it use to spark alot in the front. I changed the wheels and that is no longer the problem.
Is it just because it is too lite?
I am thinking of getting rid of next week at the
train show here in Calgary. R just trade with someone for another Mikado or SD90 or SD40.
I like to have my loco's in pairs.
Has anyone else had similer prob's?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. :D
You can e-mail me for an indepth cure.

Hello Jerry, welcome to trainboard! Is this a German 2-8-2 tank locomotive? I have no experience with these so cannot offer any cures. Have you checked the distace between wheels (back-to-back), and that all wheels are contacting the track? Being a tank loco. it could be a bit light weight, but should still run ok, if track and wheels are clean.

Thank you for your prompt reply.
Yes it is a German tank loco.
The wheels seem to be touching the rails, they all have good connection. I know it is too lite, I was thinking of adding a small wait to the front and rear wheels. There is a train show next weekend here in Calgary and I know a fellow who just loves the European loco's and may want to trade with me.
Again thank you, and keep the wheels on the rails!!
    :D :D
