priority list I would make a list of priorities first, and then see where the money can be used best. My list would be : improve the trackwork, that is the basis of all get some "decent" cars (latest Atlas releases with Accumates are the best value for money IMHO) get a good engine (which runs smoothly and is DCC-ready) improve your scenery if you think it could be improved improve older equipment (add MTL trucks or couplers, finer brakewheels, etc.) think about the airbrush (you might need a compressor, too) plan the use of DCC I think running DCC with only on engine does not make too much sense, but it seems a good idea to start early, before you have a fleet of engines you have to convert. It is a good idea to get "DCC-ready" engines, so that you can drop in a decoder later. (I am not running DCC because the cost of conversion would be prohibitive, but if I would make a new start, DCC would be it). But: it is your money and your hobby, so these are my ideas about the subject and you are free to do the opposite :teeth:
LOL at the post right above mine. Depending on what kind of locos you have... My first priority would be to purchase a really nice smooth running loco. Atlas, or Kato. It will change your attitude about model railroading in N scale. Second, because you'll have some money left over. Get some track. here is where you create more dilemmas. What kind? Peco switches with Atlas C80 flex Kato unitrack Atlas C55 A couple train cars is a good option too.
