I am looking at buying a Howard Fogg print of the Ann Arbor Railroad... does anyone have any idea what a fair price would be? The print is roughly 14" x 24." Thanks!

aaman, I can't help with an estimate of the Howard Fogg art, as I have never bought one. Before he passed away he was advertising in rail mags for original commissions. I hope someone else here can help. C'mon guys and gals.

If it's an original, it could well be worth more than $100, maybe $200-300. I can't give an exact price, because I really don't know. You might want to contact an art gallery that specializes in railroad art.

Thanks for the advice to date... I actually got an e-mail from John Scala - who wrote a book with Mr. Fogg and he said that a print (just a print, NOT an original) should go for $25-$30.....

As a photographic, archive preservation company, it is good that you know it is a print vs the original. Prints can be valuable too...it just depends on so many factors.

We preserve history so it doesn't go away. Trains, Cars, Racing, Aviation...the list goes on...so, our photos are similar to what you are buying. The question would be...what is it worth to you.

If you can't find it (even a repro) and you love the image, then $100-$200 bucks seems very reasonable to me as it will be a keepsake for you. Everytime you see it you will smile...that's a great thing and that is what 'decorating' is all about in my opion.

Hope that helps and if you have any questions which I can help with...please feel to email me directly at cnaz@artemisimages.com

Cool - thanks. I'm actually buying it from a guy in Denver (I noted your location). We settled on $115, framed including shipping. The bottom line was the appreciation factor that I will get when its in my collection! It may have been a bit pricey but I think it'll be well worth it. Thanks for the advice!

If framing and shipping are included then you did just fine. Enjoy a bit of history...I know what that feels like to look at beautiful images (most previously unseen!).

Have a very happy holiday and if anybody has any questions, please feel free to email me.

And on another note...my topic was moved. Yes, we sell photos...HOWEVER, I have tried to supply great info, great photos and advice several times on this board...either publicly or privately. I have never kept my company or our pursuit of PRESERVATION of history a secret.

Alan..your administrator moved my post, which honestly infuriates me as it is the holidays, we offer great service. If you don't believe me...feel free to visit another forum (racing) http://www.trackforum.com and do a search on ecat and see how people respect, my company and our goal of saving history. Similar to here...it is family. That's why I liked this forum...it seemed like people were like me.

Those train photos we saved sat in boxes in a storage shed outside and would have been ruined over time. With sales (maybe for a xmas present...imagine that alan) those images can be preserved for the many generations to come. It is for HISTORIC PRESERVATION. But I guess you are not into that...Alan, it is your loss and it is small thinking like yours without checking the facts first that the preservation will not continue.

To the rest of you who so warmly welcomed me to this forum, thank you. I appreciate your help with identification of the images and I thank you for your time to help.

I want your opinions and I think you should let your moderators know your opinion. As always, you are welcome to contact me directly at cnaz@artemisimages.com
