I need some carification on the subject of jacks for the tethered MRC Prodigy Advance cabs. The cabs use RJ-12 wires, where can I pick up these jacks to place around the layout? MRC.COM is very basic and makes no mention of boosters or jacks. Is there anywhere I can go to get some details regarding the jacks, signal boosters and where they need to be placed? I have a great book DCC Made Simple, but it doesn't elaborate on the above topics. Thanks.
Home Depot and Radio Shack sell RJ-45 outlets and cables. They are data friendly, have the same shape with 8 pins but the jumper wires are different colors. I bought a bunch but am waiting on MRC Y splitters to start the job.
you can get RJ12 jacks and sockets anywhere phone outlet supplies are sold. What you want to look for is 3 line phone jacks. You can also find RJ12 connectors and 6 conductor cable in the same location. You'll need a crimper to build your own cables if you plan to do that. (I buy my supplies at Home Depot or Lowes). Paul
Prodigy and Prodigy Advance use an 8 conductor wire with 8 pin connectors. Aren't the 6 pin called RJ-11?
