    New here, but longtime train enthusiast! l have acquired some track and l have no idea what gauge it is! it's three rail and 2" - 2 1/8" between rails [depending upon if you pinch the rails together or stretch them out...] What the heck is it?

    2-1/8" gauge is Standard Gauge. Lionel was known for these in the early part of the 20th century. They are larger than O scale, but they do not have a strict scale. they are more of just a 'toy size'. The only formal scale was the track gauge. rolling stock could be as large or small as needed, as long as it fit on the tracks.
