Reminds me a lot of the one in Two Dot or Bruno, but judging by the position of the mountains, I'd say its the one near tunnel 9.
The other one lends itself to the area near Ringling and Bruno--In fact, it has me thinking eastern Sixteen Mile Canyon. The one above does too.
No its western Sixteen mile canyon. Its a near perfect match for my photos of the area. I'll post them in future.
Sweet! I gotta' make it back there someday. I've pretty much been over every mile or so of Washington Lines West. :teeth:
My apologies Hemi. I was wrong. It is the one just east of Sixteen. I walked it once and have nearly the exact picture. Whups! Great example nearby of how the MILW diverted the creekbed to pervent erosion of their grade. Almost looks like there was enough room here for two tracks.
The Milw did all kinds of water diversion. Such as how the creek runs through Deer Lodge. They moved the Cedar River a bit, just east of Maple Valley, WA. They completely changed the Middle and South Forks of the Snoqualmie River about two miles east of downtown North Bend, WA, on their Everett Line. And many, many other places.... It's interesting to have seen this in looking at both geography and blueprints. Something which could not happen today, but back then saved all kinds of money in construction or maintenance. I hear you Hemi. You seem to have things well covered. You inspired me on many occasions. I am not sure my pics would add to things in any significant way. "Heres me by tunnel 8. Heres me by the side of tunnel 8. Here me and my bike by tunnel 8. Heres me by the side of tunnel 8, but you can SEE the front of tunnel 8."
There are some included photos, starting with a clickable thumbnail in Post #1. You can't see them? Boxcab E50
There are clickable thumbnails in those posts noted. If you aren't seeing them, check your user settings. If that's not a help, it's browser related. Sorry. Nothing we can do there. Boxcab E50
That looks like the bridge spanning the Cedar River just west of downtown Maple Valley along side of Hwy 169 and Hwy 18!
