Concept Models, a new company has announced an HO scale model that can be made into either of either the 20 or 22 axle Schnabel cars (WECX 102 or 301).

This model is available now. Also available very soon is a generator load for it.

    Two photos are shown below.
The first is from Concept Models.

The second photo is my mostly finished model, the trucks are not correct, but they are what I had around.

I am not affiliated with Concept models, just a happy customer.

Hey Tom, Are correct trucks available for this thing?

Is it too heavy to pull around curves?

The site says, "Cannot display this page", so what is the cost?

It is made of resin, so I guess it will need some weight. Looks good though. Price is quoted as $74.99.

I am using Eastern Car Works trucks on my, not exact but close enough. The brass ones that are shown were what I had around. The ECW ones are on order.

The car is very heavy, embedded in the resin (blue dots) is lead shot, so you will not have to add any weight.

I just weighed the car, each of the large span bolsters weigh 5 oz, 10 ounces total.

Which version of the Schnabel Car is your model based on using your website as a Guide?

It appears that the model is based on the WECX 301. This is becuase there is a two step platform at each end instead of a single step one. This extra room is needed on the 301 because there is one extra axle under each end. I have not measured it to see how close the model is to the actual size. I do know that the owner of Concept Models work off of the original blue prints that were in the NMRA Bulletin in August of 1972. I have provided him with buleprints of other cars, some of which he has on the list of cars that he is working on.

I plan on having a 101 with a generator load and a 301 with a reator load from Concept Models to go along with my Overland 202 and its transformer load.

I think that this will make a neat train:

    Engine
    flat
    schnabel
    flat
    caboose
    flat
    schnabel
    flat
    caboose
    flat
    schnabel
    flat
    caboose

And of course, one of the cabs will be WECX 104.

Thanks, I just looked at your website on the WECX 301 and I think you did a fantastic job making a scale model of it.

Tom, I have drooled over your site many times, but not yet taken the plunge on making a Scnabel in N scale!

    Guys:

I did not make the kit of the schnabel, it came from Concept Models.

    I just assembled it!
