At least, after building my first stub switch I bit the H0n3-bug. There will be one station. Wolfgang
I am thinking along the whimsical route really.I liked the Kountry line but I am not sure which one in NG terms this would be. ( it goes through Denver almost parallel to the main drag that takes you to Littelton)It ends now up by a lumber yard and when getting off the locomotive you can see guard rails with an 1885 date on them.Plus running up to Golden. Those are my fav "narrow" lines. I would like something early 1900 to I dont know late as the 1920's. I like the moguls and would like to know a good 2-8-0 that would work for C&S. I will look up the links you all have, just where are they?lol.
According to my Favorites list, I show 124 links that would be somehow useful in learning about or finding information useable for working with On30. If anyone has an idea how to copy that out of MSIE, so I could send it along? Boxcab E50
Down load them into a TXT file and add them here as an attachment... Also, if they can be added to RAILSEEK I would put them there too... :tb-nerd: :tb-nerd: :tb-nerd: :tb-nerd:
Boy, I KNOW those places...I was born and raised in Louisville. I could see the track from my house. There was some older C & S rolling stock but the line was Burlington all the way (I still miss that China Red!).
Out of the box, no...unless you are looking for HOn3 or On3 brass. Be advised that the letting style used on all commercial models is nowhere close to accurate for the early C&S...but if you're happy playing it loose with the equipment, why not the lettering as well? Cimarron Works offers the correct early lettering: http://www.cimarronworks.com/CWDO27.jpg The closest thing would be the BLI On30 2-8-0. It would then require quite a bit of re-detailing. It would pass for the Cooke 2-8-0s (B-4-B class). Beware of the B-man 2-8-0...it isn't anywhere close to anything the C&S had. Broadway Limited Imports: The Cutting Edge Leader in Sound Equipped Model Trains - BlueLine C16 in On30 Scale The closest thing to a C&S family 2-8-0 will be the new diecast AMS 2-8-0...the early D&RG version is similar to the DSP&P's slightly smaller Baldwin 2-8-0s...the C&S class B-4-A...one of them survives: Steam Locomotive Information Do you have any books so we can point you towards photos? If you consider HOn3, accurate modeling is a bit cheaper. You can probably get modern C&S cars for close to the same price as B-man's On30 cars. Grandt Line offers a nice line of SUF cars. You could bash a C&S 2-8-0 out of a Blackstone C-19 with a comparable level of effort to what it would take to do the same in On30. Grandt rolling stock and locos Blackstone Models The SUF cars are accurate for anytime after 1910. This is great resource for info on the C&S passenger cars: Colorado Southern Rolling-stock Homepage As a rule of thumb, while there are many mysteries about the C&S and South Park, there are nowhere near as many as people might think. We have a pretty good picture of what all the cars looked like, who built them, how many, dimensions, capacity, how long they lasted, etc. The greatest mysteries are probably specifics relating to paints, did the Alpine Enginehouse have a clock or a round window, etc. Answers are known to many questions...so you can chose the degree of fidelity you would like. If your freight cars are sort-of C&S, then what's wrong with BLI's 2-8-0 unmodified? At some point, you're not really modeling the C&S...but as long as you are enjoying yourself, who cars...unless you have a mint green Tiffany which will make the straw yellow crowd go nuts!!! :tb-biggrin: Michael
Can't find a way to "Save As" for those files from WinXP Home SP2.... Yikes. That could take a while to accomplish! Boxcab E50
Boxcab, The favorites folder is just a repository of shortcuts which can't be copied and pasted as links. It looks like you have to open each link and copy it uniquely. So yes, 124 links would take a while.
