A topic for this part of the US has me curious. Brought a question into mind- Maybe Gil can answer this one for me?

I'm guessing that the Hoosac Tunnel & Wilmington became part of Boston & Maine RR? If so, it there a date for when B&M controlled it? And when it was merged? Or was that done at the same time?

Many years ago it started as a narrow gauge but was later converted to standard gauge. It was never part of the B&M and eventually was abandoned. The last traffic that I know of was during the construction of the Yankee Atomic plant at Rowe, MA. That had to be in the 50s or early 60s. It may possible have been used some when the plant was de-activated but I am not sure of that.
It was known as the Hoot, Toot and Whistle.

    Gil-

Thanks! If you happen upon any good HT&W sites to check out, I'd be interested in knowing about them.

HT&W was not used for yankee decomissioning, the rail is long gone, and between the connector with the guilford line and yankee lies Bear swamp hydroelectric (built mid 70s) which makes all chances of bringing the railroad back in any form impossable. the bed is still there in most parts adn tehre are still wooden poles for transmission and bridges.

HT&W finished up as a Pinsly shortline, I beleive. The Valley RR in CT has their snow plow I think.
