Mr RSS is an admin, I can't ignore the spam on the activity stream. Is there a way to trim the activity stream? Why does a news account even need to be an admin?

Once or twice per year, someone wants to know. The answer has been given several times in the past. The response is the site owner chose to set it up that way, and he has chosen to keep it that way. When you come aboard, at upper left in the gray bar, choose "New Posts". Or in the orange bar, use "24 Hours". Then simply scroll quickly past the RSS topics. It takes only perhaps one or two seconds to do so.
