I want to replace the couplers and maybe the trucks on my Rivarossi passenger car. But it doesn't look like there's any way to open it up. The underside has some tabs and slots that might provide a clue but moving them does nothing to loosen the car sides or the bottom.

    Any suggestions?

It's a New York Central 1920s coach, number 1966, with interior. The red Rivarossi box is marked 2672/o.

I can post pictures, if that would help.

    Thanks in advance.

The tabs are what allows you to remove the roof. Takes a couple of small flat screw drivers, and some patience. The sides end and floor are a one piece casting, while the roof and window glazing (clear plastic) are the other portion. The trucks are held to the car by small tabs, carefully pull on the truck and it will release.
